How the AI Dance Video Generator Works

Two photos in, one vertical relay dance video out. Here is what happens at each step, what we check, and what you can and can’t control.

The three steps

  1. Upload two photos. Each photo is checked as soon as it arrives: we look for one clear face, then crop the photo to vertical 9:16 around that face so the person stays in frame. If a photo can’t be used, you’ll see why right away and can pick another one. A rejected photo costs nothing.
  2. Choose 13 or 15 seconds. This is the length of the finished video. Both lengths are vertical 9:16 and use one credit each.
  3. Generate and download. The AI makes one continuous clip from your two photos. The page shows the elapsed time, and the video appears there as soon as it’s ready. In our 8 test runs, the AI step for a 13-second video took 17–21 seconds; uploading and final processing add a little more, and busy periods take longer. Download the MP4 and post it wherever you like.

Photo requirements

Good input photos are the biggest single factor in a good result. Each photo should be:

  • Front-facing: the face looks toward the camera and isn’t hidden by hands, hair, a mask or a phone.
  • One person only: photos with several large faces are rejected. A small face far in the background, like a passer-by, won’t block your upload.
  • Clear: in focus, well lit, at least 300 pixels on each side and no larger than 10 MB. JPG, PNG and WebP all work.
  • Full-body if possible: the whole body dances, so full-body or knee-up shots give the AI more to work with than a close-up selfie.

Only upload photos of people who have agreed to appear in the video. Photos of minors, nudity and anything else our Terms of Service forbid are not allowed. Uploaded photos are deleted automatically within 30 days; the details are in our Privacy Policy.

The AI’s raw clip can run a little long (13.7 seconds in our 13-second tests). We trim it to exactly the length you chose and save it at 720×1280, the standard size for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, so you can upload it without resizing.

Why the time each person gets changes

The generator is given one photo to open the video and the other to close it, and it creates the dancing in between. At some point it cuts from the first person to the second, and where that cut lands is the AI’s own decision. In our 8 test runs the first person was on screen for anywhere from 1.8 seconds to about 12 seconds. You can see six of those runs, with the photos that went in, on our examples page.

For the same reason, the AI may place a person in a different setting or show them in clothes that differ from the photo. These things vary from video to video and can’t be chosen. What is fixed is the length you picked, the vertical 9:16 format, and both people from your photos appearing in every full-length video.

Failures, retries and credits

  • Starting a video: one credit is reserved when you start a full-length video. If you have no credits, you get the free preview instead.
  • Automatic retry: most failures, such as a busy or timed-out generation, get one more try on our own. The page shows “retrying” while this happens; you don’t need to do anything.
  • Credit back: if a generation still fails, or the video isn’t ready within 30 minutes, the job is marked failed and your credit goes straight back to your balance. You can use it again right away.
  • Free previews: a failed preview doesn’t count as your free preview for the day, so you can try again.
  • Results you don’t like: a finished video uses its credit even if the split or the backgrounds aren’t what you hoped for. If a file is clearly broken, such as frozen or corrupted, our Refund Policy explains how we replace the credit.

Credits come in a one-time pack of 3 for $9.99, with no subscription and no expiry. See pricing for details.
